3 Exercises You Can Do Secretly While On Zoom Meeting

Who would have thought, the idea of working from home with work-from-home tools that were supposed to make our lives easier turned out to be some people’s nightmare today.

The continuous zoom calls…

The little to no breaks in between the meetings…

The back pain from sitting for long hours..

Tell me about it. Zoom calls are so tiring and it’s so difficult not to lose focus. Sometimes I even have to ask for a 1 minute toilet break in the middle of your meeting. Now that we think about it, little did we realize how much we’d miss lunch breaks with colleagues, making coffee in the office pantry and most importantly, the physical interactions.

When covid-19 pandemic hit, I too had to start installing Zoom and having meetings after meetings that never existed before. To make the zoom meeting more fun, I started to do some research on how I could exercise secretly while on a zoom call watching presentations.

I thought I would share with you some of the simplest exercises that you can do even if you’re a lazy person. Check out these 3 of my favourite exercises:

1. Toe Tapping

Some of you might already have the habit of tapping your toes, especially when you’re in a long queue or you’re in panic mode. If you’re one of them, congratulations. Not only does toe-tapping help to lift your mood, it improves your blood circulation.

Right from where you sit, simply tap your toes quickly on the floor while you’re on your zoom call. It’s one of the simplest exercises that no one in your zoom meetings will notice unless you need to be on a video call from head to bottom. I do this all the time!

2. Breathe in the energy, breathe out the tiredness

That’s right, breathing exercise. Although breathing is a natural process, there’s a psychological reason behind how practising the correct way of breathing helps you to relax.

Did you notice your breathing changes when you’re nervous? And it’s pretty common to ask a person who is nervous to take a deep breath. When you take a slow and long breath, it sends the message to your brain to calm down and relax. So, the next time you feel like uninstalling your Zoom due to long hours of meeting, take a deep breath exercise.

3. Stand up

Working from home makes it more challenging to get up and move as compared to working in an office. At home, you’re going no further than the kitchen and bathroom. If you find yourself sitting for long periods throughout the day, make the effort to stand during short meetings and you’ll see the difference. Having a coffee table will be perfect to stand during zoom meetings, but you can hold your laptop and make sure it’s eye-level to where you are standing.

There you go...

If you’ve reached here, I can tell you’re most definitely exhausted with the zoom calls and need some exercise ideas to keep yourself feeling alive every day.

Here’s one more tip: changing your location to work on a new project will help you to feel more relaxed.
